Konnichiwa!
I’m in Japan for five weeks, gathering inspiration for my comics. After a week of shrines and temples in Kyoto I’m back in Tokyo, where I started my journey. Temples are nice but the neon and plastic of Tokyo is definitely my cup of tea.
I spent my first week with my fellow artists and dear friends from back home, Åsa Ekström and Jonna Björnstjerna. Åsa lives here in Tokyo, drawing Manga and Jonna was here visiting and getting inspired, just like me.

This is us, in the elevator ready to hit the city!
Karaoke bars all night long ;D
Japan is the land of Manga, and it is everywhere. I went to Comiket, the biggest amateur comic book convention in the world. I’ve never seen so many people at the same place at once. And so many talented artists, with their fanzines filled with all kinds of crazy stuff. Maybe the best thing at Comiket were the Cosplayers though, girls dressed up as your favourite Manga- and video game-characters.

These are just a few of maybe a hundred pictures I took ;D
I’ve been strolling around Manga Book stores as well, I can’t read it but it’s inspiring just to see the stuff. I’m gonna buy some just for the pretty pictures. The only thing I’ve bought so far are little figurines of Manga-girls who are half girls and half fighter planes or tanks. Add fox ears, big guns and just super cute. I must have them all!
This is a link I found about them
When I get back home I’m gonna finish Love Hurts No.10, which I started before I left. It takes place in the wild west. But don’t be to surprised if you see some samurai, ninja or geishas in my comics in the near future.
